I'm afraid that stressing conservancy by faith—and only faith—Christians are missing some of import teachings of Jesus. I know that sounds heretical, but please hear me out. Or, I should say, "Hear Jesus out."

And for those who run into a contradiction between "conservancy by faith" and "salvation past works," remember that in the infinitely complex mind of God, things that seem polar opposites to united states of america, fit together in perfect harmony: a God who is iii, nonetheless one; a Son who is completely homo and notwithstanding who is completely divine; a God who is absolutely sovereign and yet allows absolute freewill to His creations; etc.

Some further thoughts

January 2008

The apostle John wrote, arguably, the most familiar passage of scritpure: "For God and so loved the world, that he gave his but begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).

All the same John also wrote three letters in which he argues works are an essential function of religion. In 1 John ii he writes:

Keep the commandments

By this nosotros know that we accept come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. The one who says, "I take come to know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him . . . (2:3-4 NASV).

Walk the walk
